Robert W. Stahler Tuesday, March 20, 1928 - Thursday, May 4, 2017

Robert W. Stahler, 89, of Mahoning Valley passed away Thursday, May 4, 2017 at Blue Mountain Health Systems, Gnaden Huetten Memorial Hospital in Lehighton. He was the husband of the late Marie D. (Mertz) Stahler who died in 1989. Robert was a brick layer for the Brick Layer and Plaster Association Local 15 in Allentown for many years. Born in Summit Hill he was the son of the late Howard E. and Katie S. (Miller) Stahler. Robert was an Army veteran of the Korean War serving from 1952-54 and reaching the rank of Corporal. He was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Mahoning and was a Charter Life member of the Mahoning Valley Fire Company. Robert was a stock car racer, known as “The Duce”, racing throughout Lehigh and Carbon Counties, was an avid gardener planting and growing many Salmon colored Gladiolas, peonies, Strawberries and Rhubarb and loved working on his lawn. He is survived by his Step-Daughter; Cheryl Stahler of Lehighton, Brothers; Stanley of Pelzer, SC and Burdell of Silvis, IL, Sisters; Betty Stein of Lehighton, Carol Nothstein of Palmerton and Marlene wife of Gary Miller of Tamaqua, Daughter-in-Law; Andrea Stahler and many Grandchildren, Great-Grandchildren, Nieces & Nephews. He was preceded in death by Step-Sons; Keith and Darryl Stahler, Step-Daughter; Brenda Stahler, Brothers; Harold, Sterlin and Sherwood Stahler and Sister; Dorothy Horvath. A Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, May 9th at 11AM at Schaeffer Funeral Home 3rd & Alum Streets Lehighton with Reverend Christopher deForest officiating, Committal Service to follow at St. John’s Cemetery.
