Carlos Francis Teets, 83, of Lehighton, died on May 19. He was the beloved husband of the late Kay Teets, to whom he was married for 60 years. Born in Lehighton, he was the son of the late Harry and Isabel Teets. Carlos was active in community life as a volunteer, appointed and elected official, mentor, and friend. He honorably served active duty in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1954 - 57 and held life memberships in the American Legion Shoemaker-Haydt Post 314, where, in the 1980s and 2000s, he served as Commander; the Amvets; Lehigh Fire Company #1; Franklin Township Fire Company #1; Mahoning Valley Fire Company #1; and the Packerton Old Timers Club. Other memberships included the Marine Corps Association, The Chapel of the Four Chaplains, Lehighton United Veterans Association, Fraternal Order Orioles, PA Nest No. 183, and VFW Post 256. Carlos belonged to the Lehighton Lodge 0621, F & A.M. of Pennsylvania, and the Lehigh Consistory, Valley of Allentown, Masonic Lodge (32nd degree). From the 1970s to the 1990s, Carlos was an assistant coach for Lehighton Legion Baseball. He was a lifelong member of Trinity Lutheran Church. His working career included positions for the Lehigh Valley Railroad, Interstate Dress Carriers, Lehighton Electric Supply (owner) and the Lehighton Water Authority, from which he retired as superintendent. During his time as superintendent, he was instrumental in the planning and construction of Lehighton’s water treatment plant at the Long Run reservoir, part of an $11 million water system improvement project. Carlos was a Lehighton Borough Councilman in the 1970s and the 1990s, a past Board Member of the Lehighton Sewer Authority, and a present Board Member of the Lehighton Water Authority. Carlos was preceeded in death by his parents, wife, and two sons, Donald and Jeffery. Surviving are his daughter, Carla, wife of Ronald Bednar, of Philadelphia; daughter-in-law, Marci Teets-Marsicano, Hazle Twp.; four grandchildren, Toni Coleman and Jeffrey Teets of Conroe, Texas; Kira Bednar, of Seattle, Washington; and Ryan Bednar, of Philadelphia; and two great-grandchildren, Hallie and Isabell Coleman, of Conroe, Texas. Services: A Masonic Service under the direction of the Lehighton F & A.M. Lodge 621 and Graveside service with Military Honors will be held on Saturday, June 3rd at 11AM at Lehighton Cemetery 4th and Alum Streets Lehighton with Vicar Lauren Heywood officiating and Military Honors under the direction of the Lehighton UVO.
